ARCHIVE ANCIENT CAMOGLI

001.              SEA STORM

Year: 1899 approximately

Photographer:  unknown

NOTES:

One of the rare pictures of the Church of Camogli when the Sea Promenade still didn't existed.

The lower part of the Via Garibaldi was effectively realized approximately fifteen years after this shot beginning where the wave decrease under the houses, today existing in the identical shape.

The photo was taken from the window of one of the already existing houses on the sea shore, demolished in 1912-1914 in order to create the Sea Promenade.

To that time the walkway was very short:  it begun from the wall seen at low  right in the photo (with the ladder going down to the beach) and arrived to the port passing under the arches and in the "carruggio" (small alley) of the Garibaldi Street.
