NOTES:

The sea water baths were, until some years before this picture, a nonexistent practice or an eccentricity for some rare foreign travellers. 

When the "fashion" to practice the sea baths is asserted, it endured some enterprising citizen trying to satisfy this new need and conveniently equips the beach. 

As you can see in this photo, the beach chair was not still of common use: the confidentiality of the ladies imposed to "take the sun" seated into the cabin with the single wall opened toward the sun, also if their bath toilette covered their body from the neck to the ankles.
