The Lido seen from the Church. The beach, also continuing to be used to spread the fishing nets and the linen to the sun, is more and more crewded. In fact, in order to satisfy the growing demand of services connected with the sea bathings we notice the presence of a second bathing establishment, the Miramare. It is, like the Lido, built on wood and burlap. Under the arches supporting the Walk to Sea the foundations of the houses pulled down in 1912-13 are still existing. At present, restructured, there contains the services (kitchens, showers and toilets) of both bathing establishments. The wall, the railings and the stairs of the Walk to Sea are still today those of the photo.
The Roundabout on the Sea at the end of the Walk still did not
exist: on the cliff spur on which it would have been later built up
there was a high wall with a railing, residual of an ancient
construction.
The glare on the right side of the picture is the the silver bromide that with the time it oxidizes and appears on the surface. |
