NOTES:
|
In spite of the wharf lengthening realized in the years between 1890 and 1895, the most furious sea storms continued to provoke damages. In the picture we see the result of one of these sea storms: a large "leudo schooner", breaking the moorings, was pushed on the dock by the flooding waves. At the sea calm, the people walk around the boat commenting the fact, controlling the damages and, for most of them, thanking the Heaven that the boat was not theirs. To notice, just behind the leudo schooner, the Custom cabin then there existing. Also this cabin on the night of September 14, 1915 was swept away by a flash flood together with the Custom Officer, never found with the intimate and never openly manifested satisfaction of many. |
