In memory of Capt. P. Massa 1910 - 1922

Typical "portrait" of a ship by painted by G. Roberto of Genoa with, like customary in his paintings, the Cape of Portofino on the left background. 

Only years later this painting became an ex-voto, offered to the Sanctuary of Boschetto for an escaped danger or simply in memory of the commander, only adding the sacred image on the upper left. 

If the execution could be placed in the first years of the 1900's, the donation to the sanctuary had to be happen later of the 1919 because it doesn't appear between the painting inventories of the Costa in that year.
