Notes:

Costa, in the "Inventory of the Ex-Voto" drawn up in 1919, nearly always omits to cite the presence of signatures except for the paintings of Cammillieri, evidently to its eyes the only worthy one of a specific mention.

In the enthusiasm for this author sometimes the Costa attributes him, like this painting, works not signed by this author.

It's instead indeed signed Cammillieri the portrait of the brig "L'Unione" conserved  in the Maritime Museum of Camogli (Shipsails of Camogli, Genoa 1984, p.19).

With the same ship, during the Crimean Expedition, captain Gio Batta Schiappacasse said "Baccicciasso", defying the shooting of Russian guns, with a cargo of supplyings reached the besieged French garrison of Kalafat.

Ships with the same name are moreover cited by Gio Bono Ferrari to emphasize the frequency of the name (cfr. table 11).

It is relevant that the figure of the Virgin, always generic in the offers of this nucleus, is particularly specific relating to the apparition of Holy Mary to the Boschetto, specifically recalled by the chapel in front of which she appeared.

According to the Figari it could be attributed to Thibaud in comparison with the  portrait of the Sardinian  Schooner "Indipendenza" signed Jean Tibaud 1852, now in the Bozano Collection (Montecarlo).
