Notes:

If for Gavarrone and Canetta, thanks to the similarity, the type of Madonna they paint can nearly substitute their signature, Angelo Arpe in so far distinguishes himself for a richer various series of different realizations of the same subject.

Madonna majestic standing, sitting with the Child, or Immaculate - but always isolated from the scene by a crown of clouds that relegates the figure in the angle in the middle of an enlighted spot detaching their apparition comparatively with the darkness of the surrounding skies.

Five years before this painting, the same Arpe had already painted, a year later from his launch, the ship "Draguette" brightly full dressed and quietly sliding on the waters in front of the port of Genoa and to its Lantern, as it can be still seen in the Maritime Museum of Camogli (Sailships of Camogli, Genoa 1984, p. 53).
