Offer by Bartolamo Chiesa". |

In the Church of Saint Catharina in Bonassola is conserved an offer signed "Fecit Arpe Angelo 1858" offered by G. B. Arduino for the same storm on the same ship; the caption under the painting is identical like this, with the added writing by a different hand: "V F Arduino Gio Batta", relegated in the lower corner on the left (cfr. Ex-Voto of "Cinque Terre...", Genoa 1979, tav. 2). Besides the reference to the same event, the contacts between the two paintings are the tightest also looking at the executive view and suggests to attribute both paintings to the same author who received therefore the "twin" commissions. |
