"Hurricane suffered by the named ship Guido Capt.n Prospero Schiappacasse on 20th August 1873; being at latitude 25 and longitude 66 West, with horrible wind that broke the main and mizen masts as it is seen here over, and threw two sailors up from deck so far that they were found on the top of the fore mast and they resulted very badly wounded but for the grace of God and Holy Mary soon they obtained perfect recovery; and we all received also the grace to carry all the crew to rescue: Gaspero Bozzo donates the present offer to Our Lady of Boschetto in implementation of the fact and in memory of the received great grace".

Notes:

Leader of this offer is the same ship, the "Guido", also seen in the previous painting (inv. Costa n. 57).

Two years later from the previous offer, commissioned by captain Schiappacasse, the sailor Gasparo Bozzo also engages itself to donate an offer to the Sanctuary of Boschetto, being himself miraculously saved; it is reasonable that he addressed to the same painter for the work, which probably realizes this cream of the crop of its pictures,  the very best for the intense drammatic scene suggesting the boat's fight against the heavy sea.
